When reading up on how Surf City got
its name, we came across a host of Surf City's around the
globe, surprisingly. In Topsail Island, North Carolina,
there's an actually town or community called Surf City.
Around the globe, locals, reporters and surfers, especially,
call their spots Surf City for the waves and surfing they
enjoy.
Manley, Australia; Rincon, Puerto Rico; Surf City,
New Jersey; Surf City California. Most seem to be born out
of a local, adopted collection of events, races, and local
press and public callings. We've not found any named for
much more than a location close to the surf and ocean.
That's seems to be a unifying factor in these popular
nicknames or official city names.
